About Tasdak Coatings Group

A Buffalo shop, a small permanent crew, and a stubborn preference for doing the preparation properly.

Seventeen years of Western New York steel

Paul Welch started Tasdak in 2009 after fifteen years running blast and paint crews for larger regional contractors. The frustration that started the company was simple: bids were being won on square-foot price and lost on rework, and the people signing the checks had no way to tell a properly prepared substrate from a quick scuff-and-spray.

So the company was built the other way around. Every job starts with an assessment, every shift is documented, and the closeout package is detailed enough that an owner's engineer can verify the work without taking anyone's word for it. That approach is slower to sell and much cheaper to own.

Today we run a permanent crew out of the Nuzum Court shop, with seasonal capacity for shutdown work. We are deliberately not the biggest coating contractor in Buffalo — we are the one that shows up with the same foreman every day and answers the phone in February.

What we will not do

  • Quote a price without seeing the substrate
  • Coat over a surface that will not hold the system
  • Subcontract your job to a crew we have never worked with
  • Recommend a full removal when a maintenance overcoat will last ten years

Values

Four things we actually argue about internally

Preparation over product

The best coating in the catalog fails on a dirty, damp or glossy substrate. Prep gets the budget it needs.

Documentation as a deliverable

If it was not recorded, it did not happen. Our logs are part of the scope, not a favor.

Honest scope

We would rather quote a smaller job now and be there for the big one in five years.

Same crew, same standard

Continuity of people is the only quality control that survives a bad weather week.

Talk to the owner, not a call center.

Paul answers his own phone during business hours and returns messages the same day.
